What changed

AMLA published its response to the European Commission's targeted consultation on the review of MiCA, focusing on five areas: staking, lending and borrowing; DeFi arrangements; unauthorized stablecoins; certain asset-referenced token issuers not considered obliged entities under the AML/CFT framework; and cross-border supervision of service providers. AMLA suggests the Commission consider targeted amendments or clarifications, including reviewing whether certain token issuers should fall within AML/CFT rules.

Matters for

Service providers subject to cross-border supervision and issuers of certain asset-referenced tokens that are currently not considered obliged entities under the AML/CFT framework.
